Well, my doctor went and decided to go to some sort of conference this week in California, so yesterday I had to see her partner for my visit. I was extremely nervous about seeing someone else. I mean the selection of an OBGYN is a pretty personal decision and it's just weird having to see someone else. However, I was pleasantly surprised and left the appointment feeling ok about the fact that this doctor could possibly deliver my baby. So . . . here are the latest stats:
I'm still 2-3 cm dilated, however, my cervix finally decided to cooperate. In just one week, I went from being 0% effaced to 70% effaced. Yeah to progress! This doctor thinks that now things are moving, it may not be too long. However, in the off chance that he is wrong (especially since I'm convinced this girl has setup permanent residence inside), he scheduled an induction for Monday, August 31st at 1 a.m. He seems to think that if I do have to be induced, that it will be an easy induction due to the fact that I am progressing on my own. So . . . we have a date - FINALLY!! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I really hope this girl gets to moving on her own rather than us forcing her out. In my experience, going into labor on my own has been so much less stressful for me and the baby. So, I'm praying about it and gearing to see this sweet stubborn baby soon.
In other news . . . Maddy starts Pre-K tomorrow. We attended her orientation this past Sunday and she really enjoyed wandering around her classroom, playing with puzzles and talking with the other girls. Yesterday, I attended the parent meeting. And can I say - it was so refreshing when the teacher stood up in front of the class to begin the meeting and said, "Let's start with a word of prayer!" As she prayed for the children who would be attending class there, all my anxieties seemed to just melt away and I felt peace. She'll be attending 1/2 days, 5 days a week. She's bummed that she won't be riding a school bus, but right now I'm going to try to drop her off and pick her up. I told the school that I'd see how things were going after I had the baby and if need be, she can always be added to the bus schedule.
In the midst of all the chaos, we also celebrated Hubby's birthday. We had a great day together. The girls made cupcakes for him (or as Lacy says, "tuptakes"). Now, we're looking ahead to the next birthday. Maddy and Lacy will have their party next month. We're combining because Lacy's birthday is on Christmas Eve and somehow (even though I have the best intentions of having a party for her) she gets lost in the shuffle. So, this time, we're having a full on "princess party" and the girls are so excited!
Other than that . . . not much else is happening. Just taking things one day at a time. I'll be back to update if anything changes before Monday. And if not, I'll get pictures up as soon as possible after Monday.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!
