Crazy Days of Summer

Oh, I have so much to say . . .

And no time to say it! 

I need to tell you that my husband and children have been sick for the last 3 to 4 days, running fever and just generally disagreeable. 

I need to tell you that I haven't felt the greatest either, but have resolved to not talk about feeling bad, therefore, maybe I won't feel bad . . . by the way, the plan isn't really working so well.

I need to tell you that, once again, due to circumstances beyond our control, I'm single-handedly packing us up to head back to Florida tomorrow . . . with the unnecessary help of two toddlers.

I need to tell you how excited I am to talk about John McCain's pick for VP.

I need to tell you that my sister-in-law needs so much needed prayer.  She had major surgery to remove tumors in her pancreas last week and is back in the hospital now with her pancreas leaking and a possible infection.  She's young . . . and this could be life threatening . . . wish I had more time to explain, but just pray, God understands the need.

I need to tell you how excited I am that football season has begun.  And I'd be even more excited if I.COULD.ACTUALLY.WATCH.THE.BUCKEYES.PLAY!!!  All because of this "Big Ten Network" deal, I'll be missing most of the games this season . . . oooohhhh!  You WILL be reading an entire post about this soon!

I need to tell you that I've been tracking GUSTAV and the storm will not be in the Gulf of Mexico until early tomorrow morning . . . at that time, the track is anyone's guess!

I need to tell you I need prayer . . . but I'm sure you've gathered that from this post!

There's nothing like good friends

I need to thank my husband publicly today, for allowing me to spend some much needed time out with girlfriends last night.  Since being here in Ohio, I've made some really good friends.  And last time, we had a wonderful night out to dinner.  It was refreshing to just sit and enjoy dinner - no serving others, no refereeing, no catching cups just as it's about to hit the floor -- no one to worry about but me.  Warm food, great conversation . . . a perfect night. 

So, thank you, Hubby, for the little things that make me happy!  And thank you girls, for being such good friends.  I will miss you!

Weather Update

Well, I'm sitting here, biting my fingernails and watching as the forecasters continue to move the projected path of Tropical Storm Gustav further east.  It's expected to be a category 3 hurricane by the time it makes landfall.  Unfortunately, I'm all too familiar with category 3 hurricanes.  I've lived in hurricane territory all of my life and there's one thing I have to say . . . a category 3 hurricane is scary!  And it packs a mean punch . . . can do ALOT of damage.  Has done ALOT of damage.  We've just rebuilt and our economy is still suffering from our BIG one almost 4 years ago to the date.  And let's not forget hurricane Katrina and the damage the Gulf Coast has already suffered.

Lord, keep your protective arms around us.  And Lord, if it does come our way, give us the strength and means to put our communities back together . . . our homes back together . . .and give us jobs to go to . . . help us to see past our devastation and help our fellow neighbors . . . and Lord, through it all, give us the strength to lift our hands and thank you for the blessings you have bestowed upon us now and in the days to come . . . blessed be your name, Oh Lord!

I've just about made the decision that if the projected path continues to move eastward, the family and I will continue our stay in Ohio until the storm passes (we were planning on heading home this very weekend).  And then we'll head home to assess the damages and begin the clean up. 

As you go about your day, continue to think about the storm -- it's going to impact someone and those people need our prayers.
